Water is essential for everyone and everyday day life. It helps with everything, from transporting nutrients around our bodies to controlling our bodies temperature. Not only that but it is also good for healthier skin too.

How Much Should We Drink Daily?

It is said that adults should be drinking at least 8 glasses of fluid a day. We get most of this fluid intake by drinks throughout the day, but we also get this in foods we eat too, such as fruits and vegetables.

What to drink to stay hydrated

Water is always the best option and is best for our bodies. It has zero calories and if you don't like the taste then you can add some fruit to add a little flavour and stay hydrated.

Milk is also a good choice, as it contains protein, B vitamins, iodine and calcium. All of this goodness as well as having water in it too. If you choose the skimmed or semi-skimmed options it will help to keep the fat content low.

Alcohol and fizzy drinks are best off limited to small amounts, as they are high in sugar and are diuretics, so are known to make you visit the bathroom more often to wee more, which could leave you feeling dehydrated. If you do find yourself drinking these drinks try and add a glass of water somewhere in-between drinks.

Can you drink too much water?

Now this is a question many of us have asked. There are many stories going around regarding the answer, but just be careful not to drink much more than the recommended 2.5 litres a day. It is important not to cause low levels of salt and electrolytes in our bodies.

If you think you may be dehydrated then water is always the best option. If you are suffering severe dehydration due to a bug then always speak with you're GP or a pharmacist who will best advise the right cause of action to take to replace the lost body salts and sugars needed.

Stay hydrated with Anita's Craft Shop as there are many ways we can help monitor your water intake.
