Did you know that Leicester Square in London is home to an interactive statue trail of stunning sculptured film icons, featuring everyone's favourite film characters dating back to the 1920s.
Who Is Currently At Scenes In The Square
On the day we visited there was Mr Bean, Paddington, Laurel and Hardy in Liberty, Wonder Woman, Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain, Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Bugs Bunny, Charlie Chaplin, and then last but not least Batman. More are said to be coming soon.
Where Abouts Is Scenes In The Square
Leicester square itself has come alive with a magical statue trail, called "Scenes In The Square" honoring Britain's love of film and cinema.
The trail itself launched in February 2020 and has been designed to appeal to all ages. Bringing favourite movie scenes to life dating back to the 1920s.
It goes without saying that Leicester Square is the perfect setting for the wonderful trail, being London's home of film since the very first cinema opened in 1930.
Photo's With The Statues
Did you ever think that one day you would be able to sit next to Mr Bean on the bench, or even next to your favourite lovable bear, Paddington? at scenes in the square you can do just that. You can even pose for a photo with Mary Poppins and even Gene Kelly.
Over-looking Leicester Square you will find Batman watching over the city from a roof top. You will also see Wonder Women bursting out of the side of a building.
Many of the statues are said to illuminate at night and look absolutely stunning.
Is Scenes In The Square Family-Friendly?
This is a very joyful day out for all the family, which can be enhanced by a free audio walking tour which is optional. The tour itself is self-guided and is packed full with movie clips, trivia, humor and interviews.
There is so much to enjoy for all ages, whether your digging for carrots with Bug Bunny, singing in the rain with Gene Kelly, or just wanting to relax with a marmalade sandwich with Paddington whilst enjoying a trip down memory lane.
